Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy with a Defibrillator (CRT-D)

CRT-D is a specialized device used to treat certain types of heart failure. It combines a biventricular pacemaker, which helps the heart chambers beat in sync, with a defibrillator, which can correct life-threatening heart rhythms.

The device is implanted under the skin near the collarbone and connected to the heart through three leads. It improves the heart's pumping efficiency and provides protection against dangerous arrhythmias.

CRT-D is recommended for patients with reduced heart function, wide QRS complex on ECG, and ongoing symptoms despite medication.
